Welcome!
Welcome to my digital K-12 art education portfolio! On this site you will discover who I am as a teacher and an artist. You will find documentation of my various experiences within my education classes at Colorado State University and lesson plans for elementary, high schools, and museum education programs. There are also "teacher work samples" for the various schools I have taught at (Polaris Lab School, Rocky Mountain High School, and Beattie Elementary). I have also included many images of student artwork as well as images of my own works. My resume, credentials, and teaching philosophy are included as well. If you have any questions or comments please contact me at brooke.stanke@gmail.com!
My name is Brooke Stanke and I am a Colorado State University 2013 graduate. I recieved my BFA in painting and my teacher licensure in K-12 art education. I am originally from Lee’s Summit, Missouri but have lived in Fort Collins, Colorado for the past four years. At CSU I was passionate about my education classes, the time spent in my studio, my involvement in the University Honor's program, and working in the Admissions Office as a CSU tour guide! In addition to teaching and painting, I love drawing, photography, snowshoeing, hiking, camping, and any other activities that involve the outdoors! Much of my inspiration for my own art comes from my love of nature, landscapes, and the outdoors.
In the summer of 2012 I participated in an education internship at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center in Cody, Wyoming which gave me invaluable teaching experience within a museum setting. During my senior year at CSU I co-taught an art class once a week, to a fourth/fifth grade class at the Lab School for Creative Learning in Fort Collins. I have observed, aided, and helped teach in two other middle schools in the Poudre School District, and a high school in the Thompson School District in Loveland, Colorado. Also during my senior year at CSU I helped lead the museum fine arts program, BRAINY, that the University Center of the Arts provides for schools around Colorado.
I am currently student teaching at Rocky Mountain High School and Beattie Elementary within the Poudre School district. In the spring of 2014 I will be subbing and my goal is to have a full-time art education job by the fall of 2014.
Thank you for visiting my site! Feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments!
